Filed under: Uncategorized — ROWENA @ 9:33 am

I had a great day yesterday in the ladies interest pavilion. It was great to have a chat with the people and show what can be achieved in a workshop. I will be running another workshop in Dubbo in June due to the amount of interest on the day.

Sunday March 20th at the Red Cross rooms in Parkes NSW. We held a mixed adults workshop where we were teaching to create a chhok, beginners seated lady and 3 ladies were creating their Waste To Art pieces to exhibit in the Parkes exhibition.
There were some great works created on the day, a few laughs and all in all a fun day had by all.

Childrens’ Waste to Art workshop a success.

Filed under: Uncategorized — ROWENA @ 12:24 pm

Saturday 19th March 2011 was the first of 3 Waste to Art workshops proposed for Parkes.
The children had a great time searching through the numerous ‘waste’ items Wendi and I had collected prior to the workshop. We had cardboard, bed springs, foam, chicken wire, fabric and bits and pieces of this and that the kids’ imagination started to run wild.
Joseph created the biggest sculpture of the day with a man fishing. He created the body using cardboard boxes and dressed it with an old shirt. his feet were bed springs and he had a stick fishing rod with a paper hook on the end.
A ballerina was created with wire for the tutu and numerous pieces of scrap fabric made the bodice. with foam as the body.
An old coke bottle became a doll, whilst cardboard sheets were decorated with collaged pieces of cloth, tiny boxes and reeds.
The kids were all quite pleased with themselves and their creations at the end of the workshop and asked when they can do it again.
